![]() Ramon Speed/Mean Spirit'd Robots Held Longer Than Haikus But Shorter Than Odes 7" CPR702 Ordering info Out of Stock Time was when Catsup Plate was knee-deep in the home-recording/lo-fi/cassette label thing. And while we don't disavow that period by any stretch, the oft-heard complaint was that most of the music made during that era was too dashed-off to be all that compelling. There were, of course, a number of bands who saw their way past the pitfalls of home recording and consistently came up with gems. Two such outfits were Ramon Speed and Mean Spirit'd Robots. On this split record you get two songs each from both artists. Ramon Speed gives us "You've Changed Your Place in This World," a strained-voice rock number as well as "Red Beans and Rice," a downtempo dirge. Mean Spirit'd Robots offer up "I fell Down in the Shower This Morning," perhaps their most charming song yet and "All the Junkys," a dark and shambolic tale of love and (impending?) loss. Edition of 500 copies. Hand-assembled
"office-style" packaging: manila envelope with photocopied post-it note title
information (Kinko's wouldn't have been pleased had they found us running those
through their photocopiers), mailing labels, and inserts. Co-released with the
fine folks at Sing,
Eunuchs! records. |
